California consumers cut their credit card debt by 9 percent in 2010, ending the year owing an average of $7,217. That's a little better than the U.S. average, according to San Francisco's CreditKarma.com, which tracks these things -- nationwide, the typical consumer cut their credit card debt by 8 percent over the course of the year to end at $7,404 in December.
