Why is there a such a large discrepancy between my MyFico TransUnion score and the Credit Karma score if CK is using TransUnion details? MyFico TransUnion score is 721 but CK's is 656.

Credit Karma is using TransRisk from TransUnion which is a different scoring model than FICO TransUnion. FICO is used most by lenders so they will most likely see your 721. Also consider credit scores can change day to day so it also depends how much time is put in between pulling your myFico score and CK score. Note: There is a slight difference as I had my Fico score pulled when i applied for a car loan and it was 645 while my CK score was 631 in the exact same time frame. There will always be a slight difference since there are many different scoring models in use today but they are all created based on what is shown on your credit report.

Thanks for the explanation tg. BTW - I pulled my Fico because I am also looking to buy a new auto. How did your car loan experience go??

It went well. I added a co-signer to get a better interest rate and I was approved by GMAC for a 6 year, 1.9% APR loan and $0 down.

Not sure why, but my TU FICO is 710 while my CK score is 678.  Not as large a discrepancy as yours, but significant nonetheless.

I've had the exact oppisite problem. My CreditKarma score is always higher than the Transunion/Experian/Equifax scores... It's caused me problems when applying for loans :(

That's what's happening to me.  CK 637 MyFico 595 that's a big drop.  Trying to get back on track after a 2 year divorce that we both quit paying bills.
