I have more then a few that i have paid off in the last year or two and am not sure how i go about getting them taken off my credit report. Do i have to call the collections agency and speak to them again? I have papers from all but one company saying the debt was resolved. Any help at all will be appreciated greatly.

Most information -good stay on your credit report for ten years and bad will stay on your credit report for seven years. However, some financial disasters (divorce, bankruptcy) can stay for as long as ten years. The silver lining to this is that, the older the negative information is, the less influence it has on the overall report. try contacting those companies and request in writing to remove it.
