I recently have been getting credit card offers, after not getting any due do poor credit(I assume). I opened a Capital One Secured card Oct of 2010 and also around that time I got a car loan(used vehicle), cosigned with my mother.
Now my CK score has actually gone down, even though I have not missed a payment and paid way more than due, on the CC acct. Are these offers "legit", should I even attempt to try one...I know i do not need another inquiry on my report, but I am trying to build credit, and this seems like a good sign that what I am doing so far is working. But with my CK score not improving (actually declining)...I just wonder if this, again, is worth trying. Maybe some of you have exp with this.
Thanks for any info you guys can share.
FYI--the offers are from HBSC, Chase, and another I do not recall as I just threw it away LoL.

Try Capital One unsecured and try to keep all balances below 30% of limits at all times. This will boost your score. Good Luck.

chase....umm trust me you dont want credit from them. Do what you are doing for a year then start applying, build your history.

Even with my CK score declining, you think that with a year of good history, I can start applying. (to nbirn). To Nandog : basically the same question as above. You think I can try a Capital one unsecured...with my CK score actually going down instead of up these past few months? To either or anyone...I don't know if you guys have xp with this, but what are the "chances" that one of these companies will actually extend an offer of credit to me, if I either wait a year, or try Capital One?
