Yesterday I had 12 Hard Credit Inquiries on my report. I authorized 2 of them. Now today I have 13 and I didn't authorize one. I don't understand. How come I have no control over something that effects my credit? Can I get more information on these? Can I get them removed? Is it worth it? Working really hard to fix credit, this isn't helping.

Dispute them on all three credit agencies sites. They will take 45 days or so to review your case. Then they will send you an email with a link showing the things that have been changed. I tried to remove my hard inquires, but I wasn't able to. But in the process, I did find mistakes and other things that did get changed or removed from my report. I also believe, but don't quote me, that it takes 2 years to have them removed if you don't dispute them. And also disputing doesn't hurt your credit.

forget doing anything online... if you simply must dispute something DO IT IN WRITING! send the letter to all 3 bureaus, and make sure to send it return reciept requested... Be carefull with this though, Make certain you know exactly what you are disputing. Case in point, you could have an old stale debt out there that someone is trying to collect on, but, doesn't have your current contact info, If you leave that debt alone the statute of limitations will age that debt off your report in 7 years from the date of first delinquency.. at some point that debt may get sold to a new collection agent, who then does a hard inquiry on your credit, trying to get current contact info for you so they can send you a collection letter... If you respond to that letter in any manner, they can then resubmit that same outdated debt back to the credit bureaus, and the statute of limitations clock starts all over again from zero... I have had this happen personally, and it just creates unnecessary problems.. tread carefully, and make sure you keep things straight, make copies of everything. and no disputing something doesnt hurt your scores..

If it's an old debt they are not allowed to change the date or start it over, no matter what they say or do, this is called re-aging. You can dispute it and have it corrected to the original date. Also hard credit inquiries have to be authorized by you seeking credit, anything else should be a soft inquiry and does not affect your credit score.

hey idiots you cant dispute inquiries online and they get declined by mail, trust me I know, I tried it all 3 bureaus I called up their fraud depts and said you have a police report on file due to id theft, this inquiry is a direct result of a fraudulent debt. They deleted it then and there.
