My question...How will this economy ever recover?? People with excellent credit, lose there jobs through no fault of there own. Had excellent credit...No help from that joke of a government program "making homes affordable" only option short sale...Credit takes a dive....finally a job...Can't get credit???? Give me a BREAK!!! Every thing should be taken into consideration in this economy...If not, we will not be able to recover from this mess!!! Credit reporting bureaus are going to have to report in some other way....This is only going to get worse!!       

 I live in Florida (one of the highest unemployment states) and also had excellent credit. I tried for a modification with no help. The government making homes affordable program was a complete joke! I struggled to keep up with my payments, could not sell my home (underwater) so instead of going into foreclosure did a short sale.  I hope that in the near future the government is going to help bail homeowners out of this mess!! They helped the banks!!  My home was sold for 1/3 of what was owed! There should be credit help for those that had excellent credit until this mess!

I would like to know who are these people giving advice???? The state of Florida is going to see more of the same with unemployment in our area up and expected to go over 12 percent due to KSC closing. Our credit is affected by circumstance!! 

So Unfair when florida has one of the highest unemployment rates and the government making homes affordable and helping out people that have ALWAYS had good credit was a JOKE!! I had no other option but to do a short sale...What is your deal and expertise on giving advice??? I have always paid my bills on time!!!

I too am in the process of a short sale. Had excellent credit until I lost my job and tried for a modification with no luck. I struggled to pay the mortgage, but was told that the only way to get help was to get behind in payments.  No such luck!! There was never any help out there for the unemployed like stated on the making home affordable gov web site. My credit went from exellent to poor all because of this. I did put a alert on my credit report that I was unemployed. Just checked today my credit score is 617. Closing/short sale on Friday. Wondering if my score will go down further??

I tried for months to get help with my mortgage after I lost my job. I struggled, but made my monthly payments. I got no assistance. Paper work was lost, I would get a different answer each time I called my lender. No one knew what the hell was going on! I was told that the only way to get help was to get behind in your payments. Still no help. My home is now listed as a short sale. My credit was good and has now gone to hell and what happened to the making home affordable assistance program that was suppose to help all of us that have been responsible and are unemployed through no fault of our own?? One big mess!
