try orchardbank.com. No I do not work for this site and yes I know they have orchardbank on this site but when you apply they will pull a soft inquiry which will not affect your score and then tell you the card you qualify for. Then of course they pull a hard but at least you know the card you are getting. They are a little more generous so you may even qualify for a regular credit card albeit with some fees(not fees like those junk premier bank cards though).

prepaid cards no. Using a credit card really does not raise your score although I do recommend using it maybe once a month and then paying it off. The higher the balance the worse off your score will be. However the act of simply using the card will certainly not raise your score.

If your name was on the auto loan you are pretty much stuck. Creditors and the court system could care less about a divorce decree. Not fair I know but that is life. while divorce court is not my specialty the best you could do is try for a comtempt of court or take him to court for the money and then try and talk to the auto loan company.

nearly all of them are scams and I would never recommend wasting your money on one of those. go to creditboards.com for help.

try orchardbank.com. they pull a soft inquiry first and give you an idea of what you qualify for. A soft inquiry will not hurt your credit and nobody but you will see it. You can also think about joining a credit union and taking out a secured loan. They will freeze an amount in your savings account and you just pay the loan back and gain credit. In the short term due to new accounts you may take a small hit on your score but in the long term this is the way to do. You can also think about maybe a target store charge card which is one of the easier to get. I am not saying you will get it of course but is is known as being easier.

no you really will not see any increase if you pay off an installment loan which a laptop or car will be. Now if you paid off revolving debt like credit cards you will see your credit score go up.

One of the biggest factors that you can control when needing a quick(and by quick I am talking 1 month) credit raise is to pay down your revolving debt i.e. credit and charge cards. If you cannot do that then at least try and get the smallest cards down under 30% utilization and then move on to the next highest card.

this is not the site to pring it out. go to annualcreditreport.com and pull your credit from all 3. This is NOT one of those ripoff sites with a monthly fee. This is a site set up by the government and allows you one free pull per year of each credit bureau's report. IF you have never used transunion you will set up a handle and password for all future transactions.
