Cold weather often means you HAVE to pay your bill. Though some states have made it illegal for utilities companies to shut off electric or gas during the coldest months of the year, that's not true everywhere. Pretty solid incentive to pay at least some of your bills when you know you might freeze to death otherwise.

I've been banking with Wells Fargo for about a year now, and I have to say I'm very satisfied with them. The reps at my local branch are friendly and knowledgeable, quick to help and easy to access. Their online tools, particularly to track my savings and expenses, are easy to use and mostly very informative, if occasionally not quite as detailed as I'd like. Their online banking scheme isn't the best I've ever used, but it's solid and works well... that is, none of my bills have ever gone past-due and there's never been an issue with paying any bill through them. I expect I'll stick with these guys for a long time.

I've been with USAA for over 10 years now and I LOVE them. I started with auto insurance through them, I now have renter's insurance as well, and I'm likely to use them for retirement savings in the future. My insurance deductibles have been low-cost, their staff has been helpful and friendly and very low-pressure. If you can qualify for USAA insurance, DO IT!
