This rate is awesome. The key to staying ahead is to do the following:

* Don't charge items to this card if you do a balance transfer. The lowest rate always get paid down first. If you charge things, any payment will be applied to the 2.99% rate first while your charges accrue at the higher rate.

* Don't miss payments or be late. Most people bounce out of teaser rates cause they are a few days late on a payment.

These are the two key tricks to making making balance transfer rates work.

I got suckered into a promotional rate by Advanta once and it will never happen again. Due to their error (the system was down), my monthly payment was not paid on time, but rather was paid 1 day late. Because of this they charged me a finance charge (which they would not reverse), and then they took away the promotional rate, and they refused to re-instate me at the promotional offer, even though they were at fault.

Their error cost me time and money and a big headache. Their customer service was horrible! I will never bank with them again! Make your own decision on the matter, just know that they don't care about you and will look for any reason to stick it too you.

I had a very similar experience with Advanta. I too will never bank with them again. They are the type of bank that will rescind any offer and will always say you are at fault. They will not work with you and will cause you nothing but Heartache.
There is a reason they offer enticing promotions it is because they can not get customers any other way, because they are not reputable.

With the falling interest rate environment, it makes perfectly no sense to take a loan at 3%. Fed funds rate is at 3.5% now and the market is predicting a ~80% chance for it to fall to 3% like tomorrow.

What's more, there is no mention of a BT service fee. This is typically 3%, and would make the BT ridiculously expensive.

The BT fee for this card is waived. While the federal funds rate is low, everything is indexed to prime so I don't see the relevance.

Has anyone mentioned that Advanta pulls all three credit reports when you apply for a card?

They pulled just Equifax for me, not all three. My CK score is [removed] and I got an instant approval.

RUN FROM THIS COMPANY! They have a the option to change your rate at any time for any reason - and they will! read some blogs and check ripoff report. Do not let them get you locked with a high balance - you will get scammed. I had this experience with 100% perfect pay history and over 775 credit. I paid it off immediately after they changed the rate on my EXISTING balance to 24.99%!!!!!!!!!!! Proceed with caution!!!!!!!!!

The real trick is not to be in debt! Winning financially means not being slaves to creditors.

ALL credit card companies are lying thieves.
