Beware of "hard" inquiries.

Generally, no, opening a bank account will not affect your credit score.

When you open a bank account, the bank is more liefly to pull your ChexSystems report, which is similiar to a credit report but it records any nedative banking history. Roughtly 80 percent of U.S. banks use the ChexSystems database for new account openings.

However, there are some banks that conduct a "hard" inquiry on your credit report, which will decrease your credit score. If you are concerned about any negative impact to your credit score, ask the bank associate if the bank will pull your credit report.
