If you are being really good at making regular payments on your credit cards and see that the payments would arrive before the due date, your credit score should be fairly good. Just do not close your credit cards after getting them paid off or your score will plunge.  The amount of available credit is one of the factors in a good credit score and the age of the credit accounts is another.  If you are at all confused about this, please read the articles on thsi site, since Credit Karma's purpose is to teach people how credit works.

late pays will kill your score

Don't just "TRY"  DO make all your payments on time.  35% of your score is based on paying on time.  1 late pay on a young persons credit report can drop a score 100 points.  Never pay just the minimum payment.  always pay at least twice the minimum if not all the balance.  reduce utilization to less than 30% and educ ate yourself on how credit works.

you say you plan on paying them off in may of next year,  why not sooner?  as a rule of thumb you should never owe more than 1 months income in credit card debt so it should never take a year to pay it off....
