Define Harm,
Will it make your Credit Score go down, 90% chance or better your score will decrease if you close a Credit Card.

When you Close a Credit Card you
* Lose a Line of Credit
* Lower your total line of Credit
* Could lower your Average age of accounts ( depends on what you have etc )
and I'm sure there are a few other things.

SO if you have a Credit Card you are not using, tuck the card away. Don't worry about it. If it really bothers you, Cut the Card up. and if it still bothers you then close the account and don't worry what happens with your credit score.
