Don't get cards you don't need

Slate credit cards are generally good to have in your portfolio, but if you don't need it, don't do it.  With 35 years credit history, a new card could potentially HALVE your average credit history experience if you only had 2 cards with that addition.  If you have multiple lines of credit being reported, I don't see that new card harming your credit very much with 35 years experience.  That's great!
