You are seeing the amount of a debt which has gone unpaid.   Creditors routinely attempt to collect the debt and if they feel they cannot, they then sell the debt to another collection agency.   The best way to avoid this is to arrange payment when the debt is initially owed.   When it moves from collection agent to collection agent the amounts will keep generating as an unpaid debt and remain on your credit report for 7 years.    Take the opportunity to pay the debt as quickly as possible so that it shows paid on your report.   It will only reflect paid by the firm who last owned your account.   You can answer for the others on a credit inquiry if you are asked.
