Why do closed accounts show up on total accounts? Some were closed as long ago as 1991
According to good old Equifax, I get a negative for 20 accounts but only 4 of them are currently open. The others were closed between 1991 and 2007, but still show up.

anything over seven years old (7 years from date of closing) should drop off naturally. Check to make sure some collection agency didn't sleaze-in a 'refresh' of sorts. If they did, there will be a date within seven years ago listed somewhere in there.
