Derrogatory items will stay on your credit report for a maximum of 7 years from the date it is delinquent. 10 years for judgements and Bankruptcies. You may be refering to the "Statutes Of Limitations" (which vary from state to state) meaning that a debt collector cannot legally take you to court after a certain number of years have gone by to collect a debt. This does not exclude you from you owing the debt though. Good luck my friend.....
