Thats because...

Things like utilities: phone comapnies, Gas and electric, water and garbage and  home rental and leasing, insurance and taxes are not considered extensions of credit. They are living expenses so they are not required to report.  But miss a payment or move with out paying and they will use the Credit System to find you and force you to pay your debts. The government will also use the credit system.

Credit is usually involves a third party agreement.  You have a credit card, you use it at a store, The CC collects the payment from you, they pay the store.  Same with a car loan or a mortgage.

You also can't count on used car loans and monthly furniture and appliance rentals being reported either. It costs money for each account that is reported so most of these smaller companies don't report unless your start missing payments.

Hope that helps.

Forgot to mention, Collection agencies, they are to be avoided at all cost.  That being said, You have to deal with them firmly and take control of the situation.  They like to brow beat and threaten when in actuality it is the borrower that actually has the upper hand.  Educate your self on how to deal with your credit and take control of it.  Your credit score is the most important number in your financial life.

Good luck
