Pull a copy of your complete credit report from www.annualcreditreport.com and the date the collection account was "opened" is the date it went to that collection company.  Also, on your payment history, it will show "CO" for collections in the month & year it went to collections (whether in-house collectors or third party collectors).  Best of luck!
