You need to read the articles on this site that cover the 'pay for delete' procedure.  If you can negotiate such an arrangement, then the debt will quickly be removed from your credit report.  Otherwise, it will remain on your report for 7 years as part of your credit history.  In the future, make every effort to pay debts on time since their going to collections is a derogatory notice on your credit that hurts your credit score.
