To start your credit building, you should consider a secured credit card and manage it correctly to show your credit management skills.   Keep the utilization low and pay it in full monthly.  After several months, you should be in for a nice surprise.  Research the credit card company wisely before you make the jump.   If they charge a monthly maintenance fee, stay clear.  A reasonable annual fee is expected and acceptable.  Select one that will convert to an unsecured over time, not all do.  Find out if they report to all three bureaus, if they do not, you don't want it.
