What if I am unable to afford a lawyer; can I still file for bankruptcy to get back on my feet
I'm also a disabled veteran. And sort of homeless as well! Hard to get help

If you do Chapter 13, the payments to the lawyer are rolled into the trustee payments. For Chapter 7, lawyers are going to want that up-front. However, if you;re a disabled veteren (or any kind of honorably-discharged vet), check with the local VA - they may have or know of legal aid services.
