What to do to improve credit

You really need to develop a 2 pronged strategy (Work on reducing the impact of negative while working to build the positive.)  Each is equally important.

The negative:  all information reporting on your credit file must be 100% accurate and 100% verifiable.  Unfortunately, our credit bureaus don't always get this information correct and the creditors that supply the information also often report inaccurate information.  It behooves you to utilize a good credit monitoring system (Like Credit Karma) to see what information is reporting.  However, the average consumer doesn't know what to look for to know if the information reporting is actually accurate and adhering to the guidelines of the fair credit reporting act (FCRA) and the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA) as well as other rules governing the credit reporting agencies.   I recommend speaking withg a credit expert to obtain guidance in this area.  (Most companies will provide a complimentary review - such as ours.)

The postive:  I recommend having a strategy to rebuild positive credit in order to offset the impact of the negative.  Paying down debt and rebuilding postive credit are crucial.  If your score is already impacted (and to low for approval with common credit cards), you will want to obtain a minimum of 2 secured credit cards and make timely payments.

If you need more advbice / direction, let me know and I'll be happy to assist.
