What constitutes a "derogatory remark"?
I recently received mail from CBCS (debt collector) to pay $40, because i moved in August and apparently still had a balance on my electric bill (client collecting debt). Upon receiving the mail (first time i knew of this "debt"), i paid the $40. will this show up as a derogatory remark on my credit report since this is a debt collection agency?
thanks

If you received notice from collection agency but paid the bill within the 30 day window from initial contact as written on the bill from them, most likely no. If you waited longer after being contacted to pay, they do retain the right to report it as a collection/derogatory and mark it as paid.
