If you are talking about late/missed payments, they remain seven years from the time they occurred.

If you are talking about Charged Off accounts, the seven years starts at the DOFD (date of first delinquency). The DOFD is one month after you made the last payment on the account before it went to Charged Off status. If in doubt on how long a negative mark will remain, you can contact the credit bureaus and ask them for the fall off date.
