Should I settle my credit debt?
The collection agency is offering to settle my debt for a 65% reduction but the debt is six years old. Is it worth settling or should I just wait the one year and let it be removed from my credit?

I'd wait it out.

Go to "Statute of limitations for collections" and see what the statute is for your state, since it varies.  In my state six years is the limit, but it is 6 years from "date of last activity" which would be the last payment you made.  If the SOL has expired, the debt is uncollectable on that basis.  .
