Should I request a credit limit increase?
My credit utilization is reported as being too high. Should I request a limit increase on my card? Does that add a hard credit inquiry?

if your credit unilization is to high and requesting a credit limit increase will send the signal that your living beyond your credit means and could be close to defaulting-- and most likely you will be denied--which will cause a score drop--you will be much better off paying it down to under 30% util ( 20 or lower is better ) before you request an increase--most companies will consider a limit increase once a year
