Should I pay off my bad debt before I attempt to finance a vehicle ?
I would be considered high risk.

I have / had a steady income for years.

I just feel like these old debts are going to make my car shopping experience harder, but I would like to finance a vehicle anyway possible.

It's a Debt you owe, pay it off,  ask for a Pay for Delete.

you will end up sleeping better at night.

Derogs are always a major problem so address them first.  Don't just pay them -- negotiate pay-for-delete if possible.
