Closing any credit card is shooting yourself in the foot.......a stupid move.   You want to have as much credit available as you can get and closing a card removes that credit limit from your total.  You will also mess up the length of time you have had credit accounts, which is another factor in your credit score. Go through the articles here and pay attention because teaching about credit is what this site is here for.
