There is always a risk when putting a social security number online, but unfortunately it is necessary sometimes, especially for checking and monitoring your credit. Understand, that even if you are unwilling to put your social security number into a website, your social security number is already in computer systems as most businesses and the government all put your info into a computer. Just be careful where you give your info and make sure you use a secure computer with virus protection.
