Same collection debt in transunion and equifax with some differences in agency and reports
Equifax collection agency has debt under closed accounts but the status shows as open, there is no closed date, no original creditor listed, date reported is 5 -7-16. There is also no 81 day history shown. The same debt listed in transunion has the collection agency with a slightly different name and their phone number as 555 555 5555. And it's listed under adverse items. Reported date is 5-13-2016. Can they do that??? Why hit me twice on equifax and transunion??? Transunion report is more accurate but still...should I dispute???

I would start with a Validation letter

specially since the accounts are showing different amounts or collection agencies.  Google "Validation Letter" for a template and more info on how they work.

A validation letter will require them to verify the account, the amount and if the have all the required paperwork.  often it human error that causes the info to be listed incorrectly. Be sure to ask for copies of the original receipts for the debt with your signature.

A good side effect of the Validation letter is that if they are missing even 1 pc of the legally required paperwork, they have to remove the account from your report. And Most do not have all the paper work.

Good luck
