refinance mortgage
Will it show my credit history as brand new or still give credit for years of on time payments with the old mortgage.

It would be a new loan, your current loan would be closed. The current loan should still show on your reports though, but with a "closed" status. Refinancing will ding your credit as you will get Hard Inquiry, lower "average age of accounts" and have a loan with full balance owed unlike the one you have now which is paid down. I would only consider a refinance if you are going to save some serious money or are really have trouble with current payment amounts.
