Recollection of a debt
I incurred a debt in 2007 which was sent to collections, I was absent from the country and just returned. I just received a collection notice for that debt, but the debt doesnt show up on my credit report, is the debt still valid?

Not likely. Check SOL!

Go to Statute of Limitations for Debt Collection and check what it is for your state since it varies. That is important information to know because once the SOL expires (and you haven't paid anything on it during that time, the debt is no longer collectable.

It's not showing on any of the three credit reports?  Then, the next collection notice you receive, write back and demand a validation of debt.  THEY knokw what that is and, if they don't send it in 30 days, the debt is uncollectable.
