Possible to remove charge off after lawsuit settlement?
I was part of a national lawsuit settlement last year between the government and my bank, with whom we had a large debt (equity loan) that was first charged off after we missed a few payments then was paid in full or "forgiveness" as they called it. We even had an official "satisfaction of mortgage" recorded by the government and sent to us stating "hereby acknowledge full payment and satisfaction of loan and surrenders said loan as cancelled" whatever that means. Anyway, the charge off prior to it being paid as part of this suit, lingers on mine and partners credit reports. Is there a likelihood of us ever removing the charge off other than waiting the remaining 6 years?
