Paid off a debt how long before they take it off my credit.
I paid my old electric bill off through the original place not the collector. I have had lights turned on in my name since. I have disputed it twice and lost. It was 800. dollars to pay it off.

I would expect that you will see that entry on your credit profile for about 7 years.

Paid and unpaid collections stay on your report exactly same length, upto 7 1/2 years.

I always forget... Unless you are in State of New York, I believe if collection account was paid? Then 5 years.
