Need No Balances?
All of my accounts are up to date and below the limits. Most never have/keep a balance So why the low credit rating. I try not to get too upset about the credit scoring agencies after reading the NYTimes expose' on the agencies but really I have increased credit limits each 6-8 months The one negative is an emergency room-Dr charge that should not be attributed to me but can't get it off. Told even if I pay the invoice it will not be taken off. Yet your site keeps encouraging me to get a new Capital One credit card. DON'T UNDERSTAND

Do you yearly check credit reports?

Go to freeannualreport.com to order your 3 credit reports.  Go over them carefully and file disputes on items that are not yours with the credit bureau reporting them.  They have to investigate and either verify or delete said item(s).

Was it you that went to the emergency room, or is this a charge that appeared on your credit report? If you didn't go to the ER, this should show on your credit files and should be disputed.  Errors are not uncommon because humans enter the data and humans are imperfect.

You do know that it costs money to set up and maintain an internet site, don't you?  Since Credit Karma provides us the tools and information on this site for free, someone has to be sponsoring it.  Most likely it is the credit card companies such as Capital One who advertise on the site, and possibly additional funding may come from Transunion, since it is they who provide the credit information on which our scores are based.  Capital One will get some money for every card they get to issue (stores pay a fee for processing credit cards and many people pay interest on account balances) and that will offset the cost of this site.
