Filing BK is just a temporary measure regarding foreclosure.  While in active BK, a bank cannot actually foreclose, but once the BK is done, then foreclosure resumes.  I would reserve filing BK only if there is an actual sale date for your property to give you some additional time.  If you are just about to enter the foreclosure process, you might have quite a bit of time before your house is actually foreclosed on depending on what state you live in.  Try applying for a modification to possibly get you current and lower your monthly payment for your house.
