I've recently had two accounts close & transfer due them being sold to new companies. This greatly affected by credit history length as one of them was very old. Is there anything I can do about this?

With the scores that you get here, closed accounts are not factored into "average age of accounts" but the good news is that FICO scoring models DO factor closed accounts into your average age and the better news is that most lenders use a version of FICO scores. Don't worry about it as long as they are still on your reports. If the accounts have vanished from your reports, then that would hurt and all you can do is to move on and keep working to keep your credit good.
