It should be good enough but, if you have not had a credit card before, you still need to start with a secured card before moving to an unsecured.  In the credit game, one must prove themselves reliable, as is explained in the articles here, whic I do recommend reading.

Look at your odds and read the reviews to see if you will be approved. Lots of people put what scores they had when they applied for a card in the card reviews. I think 650+ will get you a good card
