A foreclosure will damage your credit. You will most likely have to rebuild your credit before purchasing another house. May have to rent for a while. If your bankrupcty attorney is still in business I would give them a call concerning your questions on this matter. I am confused a little here, were you supposed to keep paying the mortgage payments and didn't? Did your bankruptcy attorney say that you would be able to keep the house under bankruptcy with the mortgage included in the bankruptcy?
