If someone is a authorized user on a credit card does it help improve their credit?

maybe,  If you have the same last name and live at the same address and they carry a small balance compared to thier total credit line (under 30%) and pay on time always.

In the reverse. it will harm your score if they run up thier balance a large amount of thier credit line or miss payments.  unless you remove yourself from an authorized user and request the account be deleted from the credit agencies.
