without knowing more about your credit proflile no one will be able to answer that question.  But I can tell you that paying off your credit cards had nothing to do with it.

Question - when you paid off your credit cards, did you use them again? Did you use them after the new statement came out or whenever the payment cleared? Your statement balance is what affects your credit score the most. Also, it sounds like maybe there was a new account that became deliquent - even though you so there's not any. Have you checked your credit report within the past year? If not, I'd highly recommend doing that.
