A paid off house has no effect on your credit score because you did not take out and repay a mortgage, which is a credit account.  Your credit score is based on how much credit you have available to use and how well you use it.  If you do not use any credit, you do not have a credit score.  The articles on this site explain that very well and they should because that is the purpose of this site----teaching people about  credit.
