How about keeping the credit card in a lock box at home so that you don't have it immediately available?  Make it as difficult as possible to easily access that spending.  Try keeping a small  notebook handy to record EVERYTHING you buy so you can see what your spending habits are by the end of the month.

It takes a bit of self discipline to control credit card spending and that doesn't come overnight.  But the hard realities such as "over limit" fees and the high interest payments and (possibly) collectors calling to get the payments can come quickly.
