I just paid off a comcast debt of $173.02. How long before that gets reported to the credit agencies

I would say within a month, but it aint going to do you much good if it is only going to be marked as paid (unless a mortgage lender requested it). I am not sure if you attempted it or not but a "pay for delete agreement" should've been pushed for. You could try to eliminate the account now by disputing it for the incorrect amount shown and hope for a deletion rather than a correction. Transunion, Equifax and Experian all have websites with instructions on how to dispute.
