I have numerous closed/ derogatory accounts am I still able to pay them off or get them removed?

Assuming they are in collections, unless you are in State of NY, paid and unpaid collections stay on your report same length of time, which is 7 1/2 years from Date Of First Delinquency, paid collections don't better your scores much, if any at all. I would first find out what's your State's Statute Of Limitations of being sued for the debts, if the debts are beyond the SOL? To pay it or not would be entirely up to you, they can't make you pay, all they can do is reporting to credit bureaus until the 7 1/2 years DOFD runs out.
