i have 25.000 to put somewhere, not sure where to put it.it came from a settlement
what about putting in a moneymarket account

Check into money market accounts or CDs and see which has the greatest yield.  One thing you could do is "ladder" some CDs.  Your bank or credit union should understand that concept.

You should determine how much of it you want to retain and how much you are willing to loose.   Then, consult a financial planner at your local banking of those amounts and proceed based on your desision using his suggestions as a guide.   I have an account number I can give you if you need to do this super fast
