i got a loan and paid it off in the given amount of time but they gave me a bad report, why?
I got a small loan for four months and paid it off with no late payments and no other problems. But on my score they still gave me a "VERY BAD" rating. How? Why?

If I understood your question correctly, then, one good trade line dont usually boost your scores much or over take your bad marks. It's going to depends on your credit profiles and type(s) of trade line(s). If your loan only for 4 months, is it type loan that reported to credit bureaus? As most if not all the payday loan and alikes dosent get reported, 4 months of good payments aren't much of history to boost your credit scores, your scores probably just barely recover from new account/inquiry and higher debt/balance... If you have bad marks or two? Then I wouldn't expect one trade line is going to affect your score much in the short term. Loan of any types aren't great for (re)building credit, especially the short term ones, you get all the bad (new account/inquiry, higher debt/balance, and whenever it's closed? one less trade line/account type mix) but without benefits of positive trade line over time. secured/unsecured credit card(s) are better options,

There are some credit unions have some type of share/secured loans where they allow you to pay it down to 50% or more right away, then maybe 5~10 dollars a month, you can then stretch that trade line out as long as you can, so you can enjoy the benefits/sweet spot for longer periord of time.

You need to be more descriptive of "very bad".  If this was merely a comment that the there is a comment that it is paid and closed, this is not a negative comment.  All comments are reflected as negative, a review of the actual would show if it was negative.  If the comments were "late" or not paid timely, that is another issue altogether.
