Husband's Death
I was late on credit card payments due to my husband's death. I called the credit card companies and they were supposed to straighten this out, but I am still showing late payments from over a year ago.

I would call them again or send them a letter explaining again what happened.  If your account has been in good standing all this time it may help them remove the late payment.

Pound them with "Goodwill Letters" and phone calls until they remove the lates. Don't give up, sometimes it takes several attempts. Try to deal with corporate rather than typical phone reps if need be.
