Most negative accounts will only remain for 7 years from the Date of First Delinquency (dofd). If you find any reporting longer than 7 years from the dofd, then dispute the accounts with the credit bureaus as too old to report.

If the account is not old enough to fall off of your report, check it for inaccurate information, if you find any inaccurate information then dispute the account and hope that the entire thing will be deleted.

If you are close to 7 years, you can ask the credit bureaus for "early exclusions" on the accounts. This can be done up to 6 months in advance on Transunion and 3 months on Equifax and Experian. Sometimes longer out if you get the right rep.

Offer the credit/collection company a "pay for delete". You get them to agree to remove the account from your reports in exchange for your payment. Sometimes this works, sometimes not.
