Not all debts are dischargeable in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. You should talk to a credit counselor and/or contact your creditors and try to work out a payment plan. Many people on this website also recommend Dave Ramsey's solution to getting out of debt.

You should be reading the articles here to educate yourself also.

Be advised, too, that filing under Chapter 7 will totally trash your credit score for ten years.  A Chepter 13 is also known as "Wage Earner's Protection Plan" which gives a chance to restructure your debt and pay it off in three to five years. Still hurts your credit, but for a shorter time.  Still, some debts such as student loans cannot be discharged.
